เรียนภาษาอังกฤษอย่างไรถึงจะให้ได้ผลดี The other day, I received a phone call from a friend's sister who lives in Thailand with her British husband. She has just completed a Master degree and has worked as a teacher whilst her husband has got a well-paid job as an engineer. They have been married for many years and are a happily-married couple. Recently, she has been very much worried about her English language ability as she wants to do an international business. So, not so long ago, she attended an English course in a well-known accredited English language school in Bangkok which cost her a fortune about almost 100,000 Bahts. However, she now still feels that her endeavor proves unsuccessful and discouraging because her English level does not go anywhere. I asked her why she has not achieved a good level of the language skill whereas living with her husband who is a native English speaker for many years. She then admitted that because her husband understood Thai very well so she did not make enough effort to communicate in English and also when they both traveled abroad, her husband did everything relevant to the use of English for her. I must say some people may have special abilities linguistically but most of us can learn the language effectively. There are several ways to learn English - taking an English class, studying English in an English speaking country, doing self-studies. Most importantly, motivation, determination, consistency and curiosity about the language play a significant role in successful language learning. Learning a language is not a fixed process. So, keep in mind, there are many reasons to learn English and your reason is your own goal. Furthermore, your best learning style is determined by you but no-one else. You are the person who takes responsibility of your own learning so you must take charge of your learning and must not be afraid of the language usage or not be afraid of making errors. I truly believe that once you get the attitude right about learning the English language, your success will be your reward sooner or later. As the saying goes, ' Knowing is not enough, we must apply.
